verameum:

All pleasures have an end, but some pleasures can sustain much longer than others. Fleeting pleasures come from momentary desires or caprices, from passions that spring up and leave as quickly as they came. Sustained pleasures arise with the fulfillment that results from steady toil. Such pleasures are released in waves over time and are directly proportional to our efforts. If we want persistent pleasure, we should invest in continuous work.
